Borona Grabs Lead Late For Victory Over Raymar

Borona topped Raymar 5-4 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the fifth when Nicholas “Locc” Welsch hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Borona opened the scoring in the third after Alexis Ayon singled, scoring one run.

Raymar took the lead in the top of the fourth. Adam “Big Slappy” Meza doubled, scoring two runs, to give Raymar the upper hand, 2-1.

Angel Ayon grounded out, which helped Borona tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth.

In the top of the fifth, Raymar broke up the tie when Isaiah “5er” Saucedo singled, scoring one run. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 4-2.

Borona took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Alexis Ayon singled to center field, Gustavo Ochoa walked, and Nicholas “Locc” Welsch hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Gustavo Ochoa led things off in the circle for Borona. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and four runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Vince “Shooter” Nelson stepped in the circle first for Raymar. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (four earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out six and walking 10. Angel Ayon pitched two and one-third innings of no-run ball for Borona in relief. The righty surrendered two hits, striking out three and walking none.

Alexis Ayon provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Borona with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Borona had patience at the plate, amassing 11 walks for the game. Alec “Al” Scalco, Alex Gonzales, and Alfonso “Chema” Alvila led the team with two free passes each. Borona turned one double play in the game.

Adam “Big Slappy” Meza led Raymar with two runs batted in. Adam “Big Slappy” Meza went 1-for-3 on the day. Dustin Dean Thompson led Raymar with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Dustin Dean Thompson stole two bases. Raymar turned one double play in the game. Raymar were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Vince “Shooter” Nelson made the most plays with one.

Raymar And Beernuts Tie

Raymar and Beernuts tied 4-4 on Sunday.

Beernuts got on the board in the top of the first inning after Raymar committed an error, and Raul Verdugo singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Beernuts added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Raymar committed an error, and Javier Guillen singled to left field, each scoring one run.

Raymar scored two runs in the bottom of the second on an inside the park home run by Ray Sanchez.

Julian “Juju” Gomez tripled to right field, which helped Raymar tie the game at four in the bottom of the third.

Sean Barker led things off in the circle for Raymar. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and four runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Raul Verdugo opened the game for Beernuts. The hurler allowed four hits and four runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none.

Adam “Big Slappy” Meza, Ray Sanchez, Eddie Arnal, and Julian “Juju” Gomez each collected one hit for Raymar. Ray Sanchez and Julian “Juju” Gomez each drove in two runs for Raymar.

Noel “Lil Kimo” Alvarez Jr led Beernuts with two hits in three at bats. Javier Guillen and Raul Verdugo each drove in one run for Beernuts.
